FAQ

Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine For Additional Questions Please Contact Us At (936) 273-0808

Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.

We operate in a direct access state where, if your insurance plan authorizes self-referral to physical therapy, a physician referral is not necessary for you to be seen by a licensed therapist. Please check with your insurance though as many health insurance plans require a physicians referral for therapy to be covered. We also offer treatments, services and/or products that do NOT require a referral and are available on a self-pay basis.

We participate in the majority of major health insurance plans including Medicare and Worker’s Compensation. Please contact us prior to your first visit to see if we participate with your specific health plan.

As a service to our patients, we will gladly file claims with your insurance company on your behalf. In order to appropriately submit these claims, we will need to obtain a copy of your insurance identification card to ensure that we have the necessary information.

Your therapist will conduct an evaluation of your condition lasting between 60-90 minutes. The evaluation is necessary to create a program designed specifically to address your needs for a maximum recovery.

– Referral slip from your medical doctor
– Your medical insurance card
– Your ID
– A copy of your medication list including dosages, if you have it
– If you are getting therapy as a result of a worker’s compensation claim or an automobile accident, you will also need to bring your claim information, including claim number.

Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to fill out any necessary paperwork.

We recommend comfortable clothing such as sweatpants or shorts, a T-shirt or tank-top and sneakers.

Each visit will last 60 – 90 minutes on average. Times vary due to the treatment and exercises being performed.

In order for you to achieve the result that you deserve, you will be given a treatment plan after your initial evaluation. It is important for your recovery that you attend every appointment outlined by your therapist and prescribed by your physician. You may start to feel better after only a few visits, but can relapse if you do not complete your entire course of therapy.

Testimonials

“I had a complete shoulder replacement due to a fall at home. As soon as I was released for therapy I started my physical therapy at West Woodlands. It was located near my home which made it very convenient for me to get there by driving myself the short distance. Having never been to a physical therapist I was more than a little concerned about my experience but after my first meeting, my fears were put to rest. The first thing my therapist did was a full assessment of my current condition and range of motion. As this was being done the therapist was explaining what the course of action would be and goals that we would be working towards. While my therapy was not easy I was never pushed to the point that made it painful, uncomfortable yes but painful no. I was given printed instructions of exercises to do while at home and encouraged to call with questions or concerns. My therapist John Fahrner was awesome. He was extremely patient but firm with me and pushed me to go farther and higher every time. At the end of my therapy I was so much improved from when I started that even I was amazed and proud of myself but I could not have done this without the help and support from the people at West Woodlands PT. I also have to mention Laura and Linda at the front desk. They are the faces of West Woodlands and they could not have picked two more qualified ladies. Laura is always smiling and is so helpful with arranging appointments to best fit your needs and they both are wonderful working with insurance issues. Jason Barranco has a wonderful team and I was so fortunate to have worked with them. “

“I had a total shoulder replacement on December 2, 2014. My doctor referred me to Jason Barranco at West Woodlands Physical Therapy so I could regain the movement in my right arm. He was very good at making sure I was progressing but not over doing it too quickly. After 3 months of therapy, I am on my own and doing great thanks to Jason. His office staff was very helpful, also.

I would Highly recommend Jason to my friends, family or anyone who needs physical therapy.”

“I would like to thank Jason and his entire staff at West Woodlands PT. I had a total knee replacement in December 2014 after 4 previous surgeries and over 20 years since the first incident. They do a very good job of providing independent care based on what is needed, and they provide a good environment for getting better. They had a very good plan to work different muscle groups and increase the type of training on a week to week basis to have steady improvement. In three months I went from not being able to even do one leg lift on my own to having full range of motion and have regained most of my strength. Thanks again for all the hard work, I am looking forward to having fun with my kids now who are involved in baseball, softball, football, volleyball and basketball… without the successful physical therapy I would not be able to enjoy these things !!!”
